I had that kind of conversation with a good friend. It was amazing how we each interpreted events and snippets we'd heard from various sources differently, radically differently. But because we're good friends, we listened to each other, asked questions, challenged each other, and agreed to disagree on some things.

"Shame", says Brené, "will always be in our lives because the only people who don't experience shame are those who have lost the capacity for empathy or connection." (17:48 - 17:53) We're human. We all experience the painful belief that there's something about us that makes us unworthy of love and belonging.

I can't imagine the soul searching he went through as he took a look deep within. My point is, that he DID make time to look deep within.
